The Save Lake Lowell recreation group will be meeting at 7pm on June 30th at the Nampa City Hall. There will also be a boat rally that will need everyone that can tow a boat to attend. We have not nailed down a date for that yet, it will be posted as soon as we know. I will post new info as quickly as possible.
Everyone needs to go to the Deer Flat Refuge site and review the alternatives. Please forward all comments given to our congressman and senators. The outcome of the CCP will affect us for years, if we do not make a stand now we may lose our rights forever. Thanks to everyone for the help.
I support leaving lake lowell as is.
Dave Kosmann
If anyone has any new info or good ideas, get them posted. This will be our sounding board for everyone.
The parade will be july 9th
Check the flyer page for details. We need everyone that does anything at the lake to be in the procession. Otherwise this will be the death of recreation at reservoir Lowell.
Justin,
You can count me in. #1 I live very close to the lake and at least 8 of my shops that I service as a Matco Dealer will see an immediate economic impact which will affect my tool sales. Well over 10,000 geese fly over my house every year and I deal with other birds building nests all over my property. Idaho lands belong to Idaho.
July 9th is the Boise Gun Show. I know my husband has to work that, and Buckhorn Gun Shop (Matt and Christy Perry) will be there. Can it be postponed one week so the gun show does not interfere?
I visted Denver and wanted to see some of the backlands. Everything cost, and it ruined my concept of free and open country. This is our country, why do we keep inposing government restrictions on property that is ours? WE are the government, not Washingto DC, not our elected officals any where. Have safety and conservations guides, and require all whome use the lake, to reach inb a box and for a quarter, get a copy of guide lines. If they do not comply, then there could be tickets, just as pulling a stop sign requires a ticket.
Look at our wilderness areas, They shut off all roads, stoped lumbering, thining, mining, recreation, camping, hunting, fishing, and what do we have. Yellow, and roted trees, fire hazzered dead forest, poulted and dead fish streams from fire retardents. Millions of dollare in fire fighting expensis, paid for by the very people, not allowed to use the areas. Government dictates, people pay the costs, and it is a no win sitution.
We need jobs, water recreation close in, with the high gas prices.(and more feeedom. Let us begin a revolution for all of the public lANDS to be turned over to each state they are in. Make a law our public lands cannot be sold to forign nations or Aerican’s not born in the US. Washington is out of control, and are getting rich while we struggle to hold on to our way of life.

I think the most feasible thing would be push it thru our congressmen to pass a bill and re classify Lake Lowell as a recreation area instead of a refuge. Then the problem would be solved and the wildlife management could still continue as it does currently.
It’s time to make our stand…
“1000 BOAT MARCH TO SAVE LAKE LOWELL”
We need everyone with a boat, kayak, float tube, jet ski, kiteboard, rubber raft, paddle boat, barge, floating trampoline, waterski, what ever else you might use to recreate on Lake LOWELL. To join our march on July 9th 2011..
It’s now or never use the lake again.
You need to get the horse people involved. All proposed alternatives eliminate horseback riding on the refuge. Get the horses in the parade.
The lake was built for irrigation, it had nothing to do with a refuge. The valley had no way of watering. So get it straight!
The govermanet is far to involved in the people lives, how we care for our children, our healthcare, every aspect of our lives is trying to be taken over by the city official and the goverment… Back off,,, its by the people, for the people, you put rules and regulations on to us that you don’t seem to believe have to be what you follow,,, you are wrong, all rules should apply to everyone.. This is a place that has been enjoyed for so many for so long, you have no right to change any of this…..IT BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE !!!!!!!
This area has been a recreation site for me for many years. I enjoyed it when I attended Northwest Nazarene College in 1957 and until I moved back here in 1983 with my family for fishing and picnicking. It would be a shame that my sons and grand children will no longer have the privilege of enjoying the fishing and boating that has so long been available to our generation. The wildlife that currently abounds in this area will continue to live and flourish if left as it is. We all can co-exist with the wildlife and we do not need to further restrict access just to satisfy the imaginations those who live in a paper world, not in the real world on the water or around the lake. Leave well enough alone!
We need to show the fed that the 10th Amendment is alive and well in IDAHO!!! We need to get the Sheriff to kick the feds out of Lake Lowell.
When are people going to wake up and put a stop to the EPA. They are going to ruin everything for everyone if they are not stopped. Lake Lowell was built buy the farmers, for the farmers, and recreational purporuses. Wild life will survive, they always have and always will no matter what. They live with us and we live with them, always have and always will. Put the EPA out of there and we will all be better off!!!!!!!
How about this idea. If:
The wave action from fast boats is destructive.
The wave action from water skiing is destructive.
The wave action from high winds is destructive.
How about a device that would eliminate the wave action destruction. This device could be man made and could be adjusted, moved, or evolved to make a safe home to wildlife and allow recreational sports. There are floating docks on the lake. A wave reducing device could be managed in the same manner.
A device, or barrier, could be floated in place and could be sunk partially or completely and can be re-floated with compressed air, or pumping the water out for purposes of adjusting or seasonal removal.
A device could also be “Green” by making electricity to supply the visitor center with green power to display at the visitor center. The wave action by boats can be converted into green energy.
Natural and man made “Wave Eliminators”, are very functional around the world. Jetty’s are used on the coasts to protect bays from waves that would cause damage at docks and protect moving boats from altering their paths to and from the oceans. I am thinking of a movable or portable device to simulate the idea.
In Hawaii, the coral reefs protect the shores. All of the big surfing is a quarter mile to a mile from the shore. There are over 60,000 square miles of Mangrove forests along the world’s tropical and subtropical coasts. Mangrove forests play a vital role in the lives of many coral reef fish and nesting birds, and can help to mitigate storm damage to shorelines. Perhaps a artificial, portable device could simulate this, like a floating string of barges that would have a structure like window blinds, underwater, that would sink into the sand. The angle of the blinds would allow fish and other wild life to pass through and also provide protection from the waves.
Devices could be funded by locals and the procurement can be provided by local manufacturing. The devices could be camouflaged to look like a natural sand bar and could also be used as a nesting device or provide habitat.
A “Win Win” solution for all of us. And we could be a part of the conservation.
Please take a look at this idea. I believe that more use of Lake Lowell would be encouraged with a solution like this.
I can’t understand why the federal government feels they need to control every aspect of America. State and local control is something that cannot easily be returned once it is relinquished. The government seems to already have too much on its plate to handle already efficiently without taking control away from locals and limiting the activities of others without being asked to intercede. I don’t need a nanny.
We will be pulling our small 14ft Lowe fishing boat this Saturday July 9th to join the caravan to Lake Lowell. We can’t let this one go, if it does there are other areas they will target next.
Just another example of how the environmentalist lobbies are taking away our freedoms and pursuits. What are they thinking? This is a man-made reservoir and should be open to the public for boating and other water activities. Why are the birds and animals always more important than people? Is building another parking lot okay but not boats on the lake? I don’t get it.
Parade was AWESOME today! Glad to see so many participating!!! Let’s keep up this kind of involvement.
I posted some pics on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/zenwareinc
I’m also on Twitter @jsedrick and @zenwareinc if you’d like to engage.
Does Save Lake Lowell have a Facebook and Twitter account? I can help.
I have lived here my 47 years, grew up with going to Lake Lowell to water ski, fish, my family has hunted. Why can’t we be like other places to improve this great place for families. I have visited other places that have great bike paths, and walking paths, they seem to work out great for the public. I don’t understand by closing down part of the lake will help the wild life, the county comishoners have allowed so much building, thats hurt our wild life.
The meeting at city hall, What a joke. I talked to this lady’s boss way back in October, There going to get boats off the lake. They can’t manage the birds, These people manage the people using the lake. They have no rights to the water. Yet they control surface use! How can that be right in America?
There are 8 people working at that refuse place year round. How much money do these useless people make? And were paying for them, when were out of work. What in the hell do those people do all day? Think of ways to justify there useless Jobs!
Jennifer, Explain to me how you manage all these critters at a lake that you have no controll of? You are going to educate us on wildlife! What kind of training do you have do do this? Your on welfare, you are useless, you get it! Get a real job.
I think the best solution would be. Make lake lowell a state wildlife refuge so it does not have to fall under the same guide lines as a national wildlife refuge.
The lake is a man made lake and it should be able to be enjoyed by everyone and not just some migritory birds.
One again…GOVERNMENT TAKLE OVER of our water/lakes /river/oceans…DO NOT STAND FOR THIS…TAKE YOUR STATE BACK from the FEDS! What next?? YOUR LAND?? YOUR HOMES??? FIGHT BACK!
ONCE AGAIN….Government take over…and the
birds are not even in danger!!
Well this story has reached national media on fox news today…….Go and leave a comment on the story to bring attention to this matter. I have! it is under the U.S. tab and it is titled taking liberties: Birds vs. boaters…..
Just wanted to let everyone know the battle is not over yet. Apparently i have been the admin on this site. I just checked over the posts and approved most. keep checking in.
